Er. Lucas NG Hong Kiang
Biography
Er. Lucas NG1 has completed his service with PCS [PCS PTE. LTD. (formerly known as “Petrochemical Corporation of Singapore (Private) Limited”)] on 31 December 2023 after serving PCS for nearly 40 years. His last position held was Senior Advisor cum Head of Sustainability after stepping down as General Manager of Plant from 1 October 2022. PCS is the upstream company, an essential chemicals producer, of the Singapore Petrochemical Complex (now known as “Singapore Essential Chemicals Complex”) incorporated in 1977. Prior to joining PCS in 1984, he was with the Port of Singapore Authority (PSA) from 1980.
He is a Chemical Engineer, a registered Professional Engineer (Chemical) with Professional Engineers Board Singapore, and a Chartered Engineer (Chemical and Process) with The Institution of Engineers, Singapore (IES). He has been in the hydrocarbon processing industries for more than 44 years.
Experienced in engineering, maintenance, project, process, operations, capacity building; Workplace Safety & Health (WSH) management, asset and reliability management, energy efficiency and water conservation.
Life Member of both American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) and IES; Past Chair of AIChE Singapore Local Section (AIChE SLS); Member of American Chemical Society (ACS).
Er. NG serves in various institutions and committees; academic institutions, government agencies, professional bodies, and trade associations. Currently, he is the Chair for both the Chemical Standards Committee and the Jurong Island Vision Zero (Cluster) Working Group, and the Co-Chair of Pro-Tem Committee for Hydrogen on standards. He is the Co-Chair for Chemical and Process Engineering Technical Committee (CAPE TC) of IES. He is member of Industry Advisory Board (IAB) for Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering of National University of Singapore (NUS) and member of Industry Advisory Committee (IAC) for Chemical & Pharmaceutical Engineering of Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT). He is also member of PUB (Public Utilities Board) Safety Advisory Panel. He served as member of the 3rd External Review Panel on SAF (Singapore Armed Forces) Safety (ERPSS). He was the Chair of Partnerships Working Group for WSH2028 Tripartite Strategy Committee of Ministry of Manpower (MOM) in 2017, the Assessor of Inquiry Committee into the Tuas explosion in 2021 and a Local Industry Expert for the 8th International Advisory Panel (IAP) 2023 on WSH.
He believes in a workforce with strong teamwork spirit, occupational safety, and process safety culture towards Vision Zero, and Responsible Care®, committing to continuous improvement in all endeavours. Er. NG advocated management to take ownership in Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) by providing a safe and healthy working environment for the entire workforce.
