Biography
A/Prof. Lim Kok Hwa is currently the Director, Professional Officers Division in Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT). He completed his MSc. (Chemical Engineering) in National University of Singapore, and his Doctorate in Technische Universität München (TUM), Germany. A/Prof. Lim is a registered Professional Engineer, Chartered Engineer (Chemical & Process Engineering) and Specialist Adult Educator. He is the Programme Director and trainer for the Specialist Certificate in Process Safety. His research interests are Process Safety; Engineering Education; QSAR Analysis of Biological Activity; Computational Chemistry and Material Sciences; as well as Heterogeneous Catalytic Reactions and Surface Sciences. A/P Lim has over 200 publications and International Peer Reviewed Journals, Conferences’ Proceeding and invited talks. He has been invited as Editorial Board Member of scientific journals and act as judge for various competitions.
A/P Lim is currently Fellow and Council Member of The Institution of Engineers Singapore (IES). He serves as NS Division Commander for his national service. He is the Chairman of Balester Clubhouse Executive Committee and Strategic Review Committee as well as Management Committee member of HomeTeamNS. A/P Lim acted as Member of the Board of Inquiry, Technical Expert and Member of Workgroup to various agencies on safety related matters. A/P Lim is frequently invited as speaker/ panellist in local and regional seminars/ conferences on Process Safety. He helped to organize various annual local seminars/ conferences with industries and professional societies. A/P is the organizing chair for World Engineers Summit 2019, 2021 and 2023.
He was conferred the Public Administration Medal (Bronze) in 2023 for his contributions and distinguished service to the public service. He was also conferred Commissioner of Police Commendation Award in 2010, 2012 and 2016, NSman of the Year Award in 2014, Home Team Achievement Award in 2000 for his contributions to Singapore Police Force. He was conferred HomeTeamNS Meritorious Awards (Gold) and HomeTeamNS Meritorious Awards (Silver) in 2021 and 2019 respectively for his services to HomeTeamNS. He won the ASCILITE Innovation Award by Australasian Society for Computers in Learning in Tertiary Education, Australia in 2017 and was finalist of IChemE Global Award in 2018. He was awarded the Tan Chin Tuan Exchange Fellowship in Engineering in 2011 and Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst Fellowship from 2002 to 2005.
